(Very) Frequently asked questions.
General
Is the studio available to rent?
Maybe. Sometimes. It depends. We’re open to having others use our space in certain situations or for certain kinds of projects. But it also depends on our own calendar and needs. Contact us if you are interested.
Are you insured?
You bet. We take our business very seriously, but we take yours even more seriously. We can provide a certificate with “additionally insured” upon request.
Can you shoot my project for free?
Can we? Yes. Will we? …probably not. We’d rather trade our service for something that can pay our bills. However, we do occasionally take select projects pro bono…but it’s gotta be super unique, or have something that really makes us want to be part of whatever it is. Credit lines and telling your friends about us? Sorry, just doesn’t work for us. Unless all of your friends put deposits down!
Why don’t you list prices?
In the commercial realm, each project is unique, has different needs, and calls for a different level of production. We customize a price that truly reflects your needs instead of just quoting a fixed price. Hourly rates, “half-day” rates, etc., are generally not something we do. There are many ways to get to an end goal, and by having the conversation we can really find what the best approach and cost is for you.
As for portraits, we do have standard prices for basic headshot sessions. We don’t quote super low portrait session fees in hopes that you spend five thousand more on prints and up-sells. That’s not us. For groups, staff, and more intricate portrait work, we price as we do in the commercial world, based on your needs. We love talking investments, and can make the money conversation very comfortable for everyone. Pricing doesn’t have to be scary. Contact us!

What should I wear?
Preferably clothing with complicated patterns and large, bold logos! No, honestly, we will guide you and help give you all kinds of great suggestions to make your outfit selection a breeze. We’ll also help guide the entire process and all the little details that no one ever thinks of. That’s why you come to us! We help handle the prep and details, your job is simply to show up with an open mind!
Can you make me look…
Do you really want us to change the way you look? You’re so awesome and unique, we definitely prefer you the way you are. But we do have special retouch magic and aren’t afraid to use it, if we have to. We’ve heard everything and let me tell you… we get some craaaazy requests. At the end of the day, we want you to be thrilled with your photos. If we need to make some adjustments at your request…we’ll make it happen.
What should I do about my hair and make up?
DO NOT GO GET A NEW HAIR STYLE THE DAY BEFORE THE SHOOT. Or go for it…but if you ask us to photoshop your old hair style back in because you hate the new one, it’s gonna cost ya! For real though, we will have guidance for all of that before the shoot. And if you don’t want to deal with it yourself, then we have a great stylist that can do all that for you. Gosh, it’s like a photo shoot and a trip to the salon all rolled into one! Treat yo self!
Do you do pet portraits?
Hmm…Contact us!
Products
My product has not be released yet, do you sign NDAs and how do I know leaks won’t happen?
Ssshh…we didn’t see anything! NDAs are a regular part of our business. We take our clients’ products seriously. Depending on needs and conditions, we can shoot “closed door.” Images can be stored off-site in a secure location on non-networked media. Various other measures can also be taken to ensure privacy and limited exposure of your products and assets while in our care.
Can I mail you products?
Sure you can! Just let us know BEFORE you mail them! We have some specific guidance about mailing or having products delivered to us, so please reach out before you send anything.
How long can you store products for me?
We aren’t a storage facility…but under certain conditions we may be able to house products leading up to a shoot, and for a limited time afterwards as well.

Do you use “full frame cameras”?
Have you been watching youtube or googling what makes a “good photographer?” There have always been people that think certain gear makes the photographer, and companies have found “influencers” as way to further initiatives, ideas, and keep certain information spreading even if it’s sometimes a bit nearsighted. Does using a “full frame” (that’s such a bizarre term…full of what?) make a better photographer? We beg to differ…being in tune with life and those around us makes a good photographer. Empathy, compassion, a reverence for life, a curiosity with light, and the ability to see what is, and what could be… those are a few of the things that make a great photographer. When it comes to technical gear, we use whatever a shoot calls for, what we enjoy, and what will allow us to most efficiently achieve the end result we want. And let’s be honest…can you tell what cameras or combinations of tools we used to shoot any of the images on this site?
Will you shoot my sister’s wedding?
Nope! You don’t go to a foot doctor when your tooth hurts do you? We can recommend some great wedding photographers however!
